I can see it being relevant if you are quoting someone but surely we are not using Twitter as a legitimate source? That's way up there with Wikipedia and The Huffington Post . . .

Depends on why you're quoting. I did a paper that looked at shoe designers & how they use social media that was published last fall. I cited some of their tweets... :)
