You may have noticed I have not posted on this blog for the past two weeks. My fiancé, Jim, had been experiencing shortness of breath and went for a stress test. His results were not good so the doctor sent him to the hospital on February 11 for a cardiac catheterization to see what was causing the problem. We were told that he probably would go home a few hours afterwards and that worse case scenario, he might have to have a stent and go home the next day. However, when they began the procedure, they found he had 90-100% blockage and immediately rushed him to the operating room for open heart surgery with three bypasses. The good news is that they caught this in time and in 6-8 weeks, he will be completely recovered.
Jim was upset that he couldn’t take me out for Valentine’s Day as we had planned. So while still flat on his back with tubes hooked up to various machines, he asked the nurse to borrow her phone. He then called a friend of his who is a medical doctor but also sings with a local group. Imagine my surprise when John and three other men show up at the hospital in tuxes and carrying a long-stemmed red rose to give to me. They then sang me two love songs while all the hospital staff on the floor crowded in the room to listen.
Now that’s romance. Happy Valentine's Day, Jim. I love you.
