All of my students were present and on time in class this week. I wanted to give them a reward of some sort! I think next semester I may put in my syllabi that on those days when everyone is present and on time and do not leave before the end of class, then all the students get two bonus points. Talk about your peer pressure...
Think this approach might work?
I happened across your site and read this question/challenge. I would be VERY interested in the outcome. Attendance is one of the biggest issues that I deal with on a daily basis in my business. I feel that it is due, in part, to the fact that the behavior has not been enforced during academic years. Many young employees struggle with the challenge of being held to a standard that they have not been held accountable to before. Positive reinforcement mixed with consequences for negative behavior has it's pros and cons. It will be interesting to see how your experiment works.
